The Global Environmental Change Focus Group sponsors the Stephen Schneider Memorial Lecture at the Fall AGU meeting. The 2017 lecture will be presented by Dr. Linda O. Mearns, Senior Scientist and Director of the Weather and Climate Impacts Assessment Science Program at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado, on “Uncertainty in Climate Change Research: an Integrated Approach”, on Thursday, December 14 from 1:40 PM to 2:40 PM in the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center – La Nouvelle AB Ballroom. Dr. Mearns has performed research and published mainly in the areas of climate change scenario formation, quantifying uncertainties, and climate change impacts on agro-ecosystems. She has served as an author in four of the IPCC Climate Change Assessment reports, and is a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society.
Dr. Schneider, the Melvin and Joan Lane Professor for Interdisciplinary Environmental Studies, professor of biological sciences, professor (by courtesy) of civil and environmental engineering, and a senior fellow in the Woods Institute for the Environment at Stanford University, died on 19 July 2010 at the age of 65 while traveling in Europe.
